Silent Hunter Online is the latest game in the Silent Hunter series of games. It is being developed by Ubisoft. The game entered closed beta in the United States in September, 2013.
Gameplay
The game will be a free-to-play browser-based game. Players will take control of a German U-boat during World War II. Many players can work together in what is reffered to as a "wolfpack" which is Silent Hunter Online's form of co-operative play. The game focuses on a "what if..." scenario, and features a a dynamic war front. All players join the German side, and battle for control of the Atlantic against the Allied forces. This does mean that there will be no PvP in the game. Ubisoft has said that they want to make this game more accessible to everyone, and have said that they are toning down the depth of simulation frequently found in Silent Hunter games.
Ships
There are 10 different kinds of submarine. As of the closed beta in the fall of 2013, the available types include the Type II A, B, C, and D and the Type VII A, B, C/41, C/42, D and E. Players be able to control up to 6 submarines at once, with 3 free slots available and 3 additional slots which can be purchased with credits.
